Last year everyone was talking about the streaming series The Mandalorian from the Star Wars universe. Season 2 caused quite a stir not only with the comeback of some well-known characters from the Star Wars universe, but also with the teaser on a spin-off series called Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett. It wasn't all positive though, because the production also made at least one negative headline: It was the most pirated series of 2020.
That comes from a recent report from Torrentfreak.com. Accordingly, The Mandalorian is in this rather inglorious category with a relatively large gap in first place. The Disney + series is displacing the previous front runner Game of Thrones, which had headed this category for several years in a row. In second place is the superhero series The Boys, the second season of which was shown on Amazon Prime last year. Third place goes to Westworld from HBO. This trio makes one thing clear: if you want to see all three series legally, you would have to take out three different subscriptions. That is certainly one of the reasons for the high number of pirated copies. Here is an overview of the "Top 10" including the previous year's position:
The most frequently pirated series of 2020
1. Star Wars: The Mandalorian (3.)
2. The Boys (X)
3. Westworld (X)
4. Vikings (4.)
5. Star Trek: Picard (X)
6. Rick and Morty (8.)
7. The Walking Dead (6.)
8. The Outsider (X)
9. Arrow (X)
10. The Flash (7.)
