The movie starts of the week at a glance (KW 47)

WIDESCREEN presents the latest theatrical release on Thursday, November 21, 2019. This week, some films revolve around characters struggling with their past in many different ways: In "Bernadette," Cate Blanchett breaks out of her family life, which at that time was End of her professional career. "Stealing horses" tells the story of the elderly man Trond, who remembers a summer of his youth. And in "What would have been" Astrid is confronted during a couple's holiday with her old childhood sweetheart. Our recommendations this week are "Doctor Sleeps Awakening," the sequel to the horror milestone "The Shining" by Stanley Kubrick, and the family drama "Marriage Story," starring Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver.

Doctor Sleeps awakening
As an adult, Danny Torrence (Ewan McGregor) carries deep inner wounds, because after all, he is the son of a violent alcoholic who tried to murder his family. What happens to a boy who has survived such a trauma? And how does he deal with his supernatural abilities now? Years later, Dan is a torn-up man who, like his father, struggled with alcoholism for a lifetime and has sunk. But his friendship with the telepathically gifted girl Abra (Kyliegh Curran) is a chance for him to become a better person.

Marriage Story
Between director Charlie (Adam Driver) and actress Nicole (Scarlett Johansson) everything seemed to be perfect. On the theaters in New York, they were considered the perfect couple, and there was harmony between their families as well. Now the two are about to break up. Nicole wants to go back to her family after L.A. and has already got a role there. Because of their son Henry both want a peaceful divorce, but then break out of strife. Also available on Netflix from 6th December.
