The new edition of the JRPG will appear in April 2021

Square Enix announced the release of NieR Replicant. The new edition of the role-playing game will be released in the West on April 23, 2021. It will be released for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. There is currently no next-gen version. In addition, the mobile game "NieR Re (in) carnation" will also be playable in the West this year.

To mark the start of the Tokyo Game Show, Square Enix broadcast a live stream that revolved exclusively around the 10th anniversary of the NieR series. Among other things, the makers have revealed the release for the upcoming new edition of NieR. The JRPG from 2010 will be released as "NieR Replicant ver. 1.22474487139" on April 23, 2021 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Thanks to backward compatibility, the title can soon also be played on PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. You can find the trailer below.

The story of NieR in the West was different from the Japanese story. While a father was searching for a cure for his daughter in Europe and North America, the story of a dark, apocalyptic world was told in Japan in which the protagonist seeks a cure for his sister's deadly disease. The new edition will follow the Japanese original and thus offer this story for the first time in the West. The team has of course also made improvements to the game. In addition to the graphics, the gameplay has also been adapted to the controls of NieR: Automata, which was released in 2017 as the successor to NieR.

Square Enix also announced that NieR: Automata has now sold 4.85 million units. In order to soon reach the milestone of 5 million copies, the "Game of the YoRHa Edition" will receive a discount of 50% for PC, PS4 and Xbox One in the coming days. The mobile game "NieR Re (in) carnation" will also appear in the West for the first time at the end of the year.

Nier Reincarnation: Trailer shows scenes from the mobile game
