The next project could be new IP or The Last of Us Part 3
Neil Druckmann is still undecided what the next project at Naughty Dog should be. In addition to a brand new IP, The Last of Us Part 3 is also available. According to the Game Director, the best idea will win in the end. Fans also want a new IP of the studio in a survey.
A few days before the release of The Last of Us Part 2, GQ magazine conducted a very detailed interview with Game Director Neil Druckmann. Among other things, it was about the future of the studio. Accordingly, Druckmann is already thinking about the next project that he and his team from Naughty Dog will tackle after the release of The Last of Us Part 2. The selection currently seems to be between two possible variants:
"When you finish things you have fewer and fewer responsibilities creatively and my head can't stop and have to think about the next thing. So yes, the next thing could be part 3, the next thing could (but also) become a new IP. "
But Neil Druckmann doesn't have a favorite yet. According to his statement, the best idea will ultimately win. Since 2007, Naughty Dog has only looked after Uncharted and The Last of Us. Another part of the Uncharted series seems to be excluded from Naughty Dog. In a current survey at IGN, 56% would like a new IP for the studio. Another 31% want the third part of The Last of Us. The remaining 13% prefer a return to an old Naughty Dog franchise. Until the announcement, however, patience is the order of the day.
The Last of Us Part 2 will be released on June 19, 2020 exclusively for PlayStation 4. Sony fans should also not miss the PS5 event on Thursday, which will give us a first look at the future of games for the next-gen console .
