Who is the real Spider-Man? A fan has now taken a position with an elaborate deepfake video and mounted the actors Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and Willem Dafoe in sequences of the PS4 game Spider-Man from 2018.

Tobey Maguire slips back into the role of Spider-Man in the deepfake video.

Spider-Man has already been portrayed by three different Hollywood actors in lavishly produced real-life films over the past 20 years. While Andrew Garfield's portrayal could not prevail and Tom Holland was allowed to pull on the red and blue suit in the MCU instead, Tobey Maguire is still the only true Spider-Man for many fans. A Youtube user who made Maguire the hero of the PS4 game in his deepfake video apparently shares this view.

Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man on PS4

Tobey Maguire played Spider-Man in the original trilogy filmed by Sam Raimi in the early 2000s. At his side, Kirsten Dunst and Willem Dafoe took on the roles of Mary Jane "M.J." Watson and Norman Osborn aka the Green Goblin.

Youtube user BabyZone probably asked himself what these actors would have looked like in their star roles in the PS4 game Spider-Man – and then got to work with deepfake software. This resulted in a five-minute video in which he transferred the facial features of the actors to the models in the game.

Spider-Man will be back on the PS5

Even if Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and Willem Dafoe would have looked good in the PS4 game without question, the gaming franchise will continue to develop without prominent Hollywood support for the time being. But that shouldn't diminish the anticipation of the upcoming spin-off Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which will appear for the long-awaited PS5.
