Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich recently spoke about the role that Ciri will play in the second season of the Netflix series The Witcher. As in Andrzej Sapkowski's books, the young lady should be the focus of events and thus take up more space than in season 1.
Anyone who has read Andrzej Sapkowski's witch saga knows that although the eponymous Geralt of Riva plays a very important role in the books, Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon is even more in focus in many parts of the story. In one Interview with TV Guide Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich recently revealed that this focus on Ciri should also be reflected in the second season of "The Witcher" series by Netflix (via PC games):
"I think one of the things that naturally happens when you adapt material is that you have these eight episodes, they are each one hour long. Season 1 actually offered a lot more of Ciri's story, but we had to cut it in the end And when I watch the season, I see, among other things, that it is not as present, that Ciri is not as present as I would have liked it to be, so in season 2, we really address her character and we will understand her much better. And yes, this growth, where she starts training, where she actually becomes the character we know from the books and later from the video games, we’ll see how she becomes that person. But she doesn't change completely. What we don't want is that we forget where it comes from. "
Geralt will still get some "screen time" in season 2. Hissrich already revealed in Junethat we will experience what happens when characters as different as the sorcerer and Ciri suddenly have to work together. We also meet for the first time in the series Vesemir, who represents a father figure for Geralt, as well as others from the Brotherhood of Witches. And also the two Nilfgaardians Cahirs and Fringilla are further illuminated.
The Incidentally, filming is scheduled for August 17 start. When the next adventures of Geralt, Ciri, Yennefer and Delphinium flicker on our screens is so far unclear.
