Filming for season two of the Netflix series The Witcher is scheduled to continue in August. With the new season we get to see a lot more of Ciri. As in the novels, it will be the focus of the plot.
The name "The Witcher"actually suggests that Witcher Geralt is the focus of the story. But if you know the novels by author Andrzej Sapkowski, you know that this is not true at all. The story is mainly about Ciri. And in the second season the Netflix series is the same.
Ciri takes center stage
Ciri already played an important role in the first season of The Witcher, but apparently not yet as show runner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich had imagined.
"I think one of the things that naturally happens when you adapt material is that you have these eight episodes, they are each one hour long. Season 1 actually offered a lot more of Ciri's story, but we had to cut it in the end And when I look at the season, I see, among other things, that it is not as present, that Ciri is not as present as I would have liked, "said Lauren S. Hissrich in an interview. "So in season 2 we really go into her character and we will understand her much better. And yes, this growth where she starts to train, where she actually becomes the character we got from the books and later from the Know video games, we'll see how she becomes that person. But she doesn't change completely. What we don't want is that we forget where she comes from. "
Of course, that doesn't mean Season 2 of The Witcher is all about Ciri. We learn more about Geralt and Yennefer, as well as the other characters that were introduced in the first season. Nevertheless, the new episodes clearly show that we are actually experiencing Ciri's story. It is not yet known when we will see the new episodes of The Witcher.
