Someone who watched The Witcher's first season on Netflix was confused by the different timelines and the changes between them. Season 2 is said to have a simpler narrative structure, according to show runner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.

In the first season of the Netflix series The Witcher history jumped back and forth between different timelines. Sometimes you were in the past, then suddenly you were back in the present and only towards the end did everything dissolve and the viewers slowly got behind the narrative structure.

Attention! Spoilers follow here!

The second season of The Witcher is supposed to be a little different. Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich explains, "What we're going to see in season 2 is that all of our characters exist on the same timeline. This allows us to tell stories that play with time in a slightly different way. We can do flashbacks, we can do flash forwards, we can actually integrate time in a very different way, we couldn't do that in season 1. If you can imagine that we were in three different timelines (in season 1) and then flashing forward or backward if we had been in four, five or six timelines – I know that is too much. "

As for the relationship between Geralt and Ciri, Lauren S. Hissrich says: "Anyone who knows season 1 has a pretty good sense of who Ciri is and who Geralt is. Now we can throw it all in a blender and see what happens when two people who are completely opposite are squeezed together under certain circumstances. And I think it’s really fun. It’s not always nice. They’ll fight. They’ll fight. ”

The relationship between Geralt and Yennefer is also interesting. As fans of the novels know, there is basically no happy ending for the two. They will never start a family, live together in a house and grow old together. Lauren S. Hissrich explains: "It is such a sweet dream, but it is so unrealistic … These people will never be sheep breeders and basket weavers. Both have the desire to exist on the edge of life and death."

Shooting for the second season of The Witcher is scheduled to resume in August. When we will see the new episodes on Netflix is not yet known.
