Winners are made! This amusement park is hidden in the Thanalan Desert and is your first port of call if you are looking for something fun to do away from the otherwise nerve-wracking adventure. In Gold Saucer you can expect a number of bigger and smaller games that couldn't be more different. These range from simple slot machines to the popular Chocobo races to the one known from Final Fantasy 8 Triple triadCard game. Those who actively take part in the games are rewarded with the so-called MGP. This is a separate currency that you can exchange for special prizes – such as new hairstyles, dances or even unique mounts. To be able to enter this glittering wonderland for the first time, you have to be in Ul'dah (X9.6 Y9.0) the quest Let's have fun (possible from level 15). Below we have listed the must-see attractions in Gold Saucer, which you should definitely pay a visit.
The GATES: Short Fun – Big Rewards
The GATES are short events that are regularly called out in Gold Saucer. If you decide to participate, you will then be confronted with a small task that will require more or less skill and must be completed within the given time limit. For example, your goal can be to climb a mountain with skillful jumps and avoid bombs, or to imitate the given emotes in a dance competition. This is particularly worth seeing here Cactor climbing wall scramble, where your jumping skills are put to the test. Participating in these short events is not only fun, but is also regularly rewarded with a lot of MGP.

The Chocobo Races
to the greatest attractions in Gold Saucer and, like the amusement park itself, are a tribute to the legendary Final Fantasy 7. In each of these races eight riders compete against each other, which can be either other players or computer opponents. In the hunt for first place you have to avoid obstacles, pay attention to the stamina of your riding bird and on top of that keep your eyes open for the many extras that are distributed at regular intervals on the three very varied routes. As in the big model, it's not just about the races themselves, but also about breeding your chocobos. Through the targeted marriage of the most successful riding birds, even stronger specimens can be bred, which often even have unique skills. This is the only way you have a chance to keep up in the higher leagues.
The triple triad card game
With the release of Gold Saucer, the card game known from Final Fantasy 8 also has Triple triad found his way into the world of Eorzea. Although the rules are simply explained, they can turn out to be quite complex depending on the game variant. Both players have a deck of five cards that they alternately place on the field. The goal is to use the noted numerical values to outdo the opposing cards and thus to take possession of them. In the end, the winner is the one who has more cards on his side. That sounds easy – it is. However, Triple Triad gains its special ingenuity from the many special rules that can change depending on the game. Another attraction is the hunt for rare cards. You can find NPCs in almost every city that you can challenge to a game. In total, you can find almost 300 unique cards in the game world. Collectors in particular should get their money's worth here.
The fight of the satellites
you will meet the cute companions and pets again and again. However, these are more than just ornament and also serve as protagonists for this genuine strategy game. At the Battle of the satellites it is your job to direct the companions with a click of the mouse over a specially created playing field and in this way destroy the arcana stones of your opponent while defending your own at the same time. To make this more varied, the companions all have unique values, advantages and disadvantages and even special skills with which they are best prepared for battle. The better you manage to take advantage of your opponent's disadvantages, the easier it will be for you in this game. The fight of the satellites is easy to learn, but is a lot of fun due to the many different skills.
The Doman Mahjong
Mahjong, which is especially popular in Asian countries, is the latest attraction in Gold Saucer and found its way into the game with Patch 4.5. Here you have to compete against three other players and try to form a complete hand of bricks (as the bricks are called here) in front of your fellow players. To do this, you draw a new tile every round and place another one until you have reached a suitable combination. The more complicated it is, the more points you will get for your victory. Like the other games, you can also use the Doman Mahjong compete against other players or optionally against NPCs.
The Chocobos – attention for a loyal companion
There's a lot to discover outside of Gold Saucer, too. No Final Fantasy can do without the distinctive chocobos and also in Final Fantasy 14 (buy now ) the cute giant birds have their deserved place. Here, however, they not only serve as mounts, but quickly turn out to be loyal companions who go through thick and thin with you and conveniently have a lot of activities with you. From level 30, for example, it is possible to use and train your chocobo as support in combat. If he rises a level, you can award talent points and specialize him in the categories of tank, healer and damage distributor. This is not strictly necessary to complete the game, but it can be a lot of fun to train your faithful companion to be a true fighting machine.
But that's not all, because you can also design your Chocobo individually and, for example, give it different equipment or change its plumage color. To do this, you have to put it in the stable of your community house and then feed it with special fruits that you can get on the market board or grow in the garden of your house. Depending on the type of fear administered, the color of its plumage will take on new tones. If you try to do it without guidance, this process can provide some entertaining results. Either way, the care and color design of your companion is an exciting mini-game and also takes some time if you want to drive it to perfection. By the way, you'll get your first Chocobo around level 25 after defeating Ifrit and joining one of the state companies.
Housing in Final Fantasy 14
The housing system also brings fun and variety, allowing you to own your own property in Final Fantasy 14 and design it as you wish. The housing not only serves to immortalize you in the game world, but also offers a lot of ways to pass the time.
Of course you can furnish your house according to your own ideas. There are well over 1,000 different objects available to you, which you can place, turn and often even colorize. So it is entirely up to you whether you want to design your house in a Japanese or medieval style, for example. It is not uncommon for players to spend hours making their little realm a little more perfect in order to then present it to the members of their free society. It can be just as much fun for some to just look around the residential areas and take in all the varied and sometimes crazy ideas that have been implemented by the players when furnishing their homes.
However, the facility is not the only feature that comes with the housing. For example, you have the option of creating your own gardens outside the houses and growing plants there. These can be used as an ingredient for buffalo food or just for decoration. You can also grow the fruits mentioned above, which you need to color your chocobos. If you do this skillfully, you may even be able to create completely new plants by crossing them.
Those who still haven't had enough can even build their own airships and submarines in the houses of the Free Societies. These are large community projects that the entire community must work together to create. Once your vehicle is ready, you can even send it on an adventure using a special card. With a little luck, you will receive such unique finds, such as new companions or rare raw materials.
Command missions – your own dungeon group
The "Side by side"System that works with Shadowbringers found its way into the world of Eorzea was not the first time that you and your fellow NPCs got into battle. In the command missions of the state companies this was possible much earlier. It is your job to train your own elite squad of steadfast fighters and send them on missions. If they are successful at this, they rise in the level and can take on even more dangerous tasks. At a certain point it is even possible to go into battle with them and thus complete the older dungeons of the game. It is also worthwhile to stop by the headquarters regularly, for example to examine the applications of new comrades-in-arms. With a little patience, it is possible to keep refining your team until it finally corresponds exactly to your ideas. An exciting task that is not only rewarded with a lot of fun, but also with a variety of rewards.
Treasure maps – fun for all of society
Do you want to do something with your friends, collect rare loot and enjoy the game world away from the dungeons? Then the treasure maps are just right for you! These mini-adventures are all about finding hidden treasures with the help of old maps. The principle is simple: first take the treasure maps that you occasionally do with the collecting professions gardener and miners reveals. Then it is your job to decipher the cards. You will receive a small sketch of the surroundings, with the help of which you have to find out for yourself exactly where the treasure is hidden in the game world.
If you have found the right place, you have a little fight ahead of you against the guardians of the treasure before you can attack the loot. These challenges can be designed for one player or for an entire group, depending on the card type. If you are successful, you will be rewarded with rare raw materials, gil and sometimes even with a companion. With a lot of luck, a portal to a secret dungeon can even open, which presents you and your friends with further challenges. In order to be able to decipher the treasure maps, you must first complete the quest "Hunter of All Lost Treasures".
Play boxes – little fun for in between
You can find this little gimmick in the private rooms of the inns or when you place the corresponding pieces of furniture in your player houses. With the game boxes it is possible to play the mini-games of past events again. In addition to classic games like this 15 puzzle or Memory, you can play the maze game here Antique vault try, which is even a little more difficult than its event model. Also the platformer Hunter of the stolen eggs puts you in a good mood and is so wonderfully suited to while away the time.
Eorzea Incognita – Sightseeing for the advanced
The Eorzea Incognita is just the thing for everyone who likes to hang around in the lovingly designed play areas and want to explore them as they please. To do this, you have to track down different viewpoints in the game world and then apply an emote to them (in most cases / peek) to activate the corresponding entry in your adventure book. Each complete entry is rewarded with a new picture, which you can find in the painter Frohehalde (X4.5 Y6.4). In this way you will also get the right memento for this adventurous journey of discovery.
you create your own pieces of music and show them to other players. A total of 19 different instruments are available to you for this, including harps, flutes and cymbals. So you can let off steam to your heart's content and re-enact your favorite pieces from the Final Fantasy series. The highlight: With the help of a metronome, it is even possible to coordinate with other players and perform together with them. If you want to try it yourself, all you have to do is activate the bard's job and then select the compositions in the command menu.
The screenshot feature "Gpose" offers you a completely different variety. The developers give you a versatile tool to influence your screenshots and literally put your character in a very special light. For example, you can freeze his animations, place new light sources and then add effects such as frames to the picture. To activate this feature, you either have to type the command / gpose in the chat or select the group photo mode in the command menu. You can find a complete overview of all functions and possibilities of the / gpose feature in our detailed guide.
