The makers of Final Fantasy 7 Remake never tire of pushing the drum for the reissued JRPG. This time there is information about locations, characters, Esper summons and mechanics in the game. This time we introduce you to the means Barret uses in battle!

It’s less than a month from today, March 16, 2020, until April 10, 2020, when the new edition of Cloud Strife’s Midgar adventure will be released in the form of Final Fantasy 7 Remake. To keep fans on the ball, the developers of Square Enix want to send you a swing of new information, with which you can tune in to the remake either in the form of pictures optically or in the form of mechanical details. For example, after we explained how you went into the battle against Shinra with Tifa Lockhart and Aerith Gainsborough, it's Barret Wallace's turn. In the coming days we will show you places like the honey potty or the Esper Leviathan that you can summon – so it is worthwhile to drop by tomorrow and the day after and visit our Final Fantasy theme page. So let's get to Barret and his Gatling arm.

As soon as you take control of Barret in combat (only possible in combat), he fires his rifle by pressing the square button on the controller. You will learn this very early in the game (also in the demo), because you should put out laser guns with Barret, you cannot reach the cloud with his sword. If you keep the button pressed, longer volleys will be fired.

Barret's special skill, like the other heroes, is triggered by pressing the triangle button, which is a rather powerful attack, the "burst of fire". However, it takes time for the burst to recharge. You can bridge this waiting time by repeatedly pressing the triangle button, because then the reload time will be reduced.

Two of Barret's skills are the "shock shot" and the "avalanche creed". In the shock shot, all ATB bars are used up and converted into a shot with a high shock potential. You want to put your opponents in a state of shock, on the one hand to numb them and on the other hand to do more damage to them. The Avalanche Creed is a support skill. After activating this skill, Barret shares some of his HP with allies when they are damaged so that they are not sent to the boards as quickly.
