Notes have appeared on the Internet that could indicate a new Uncharted game from Sony San Diego Studios. Accordingly, Zak Oliver (former Environment Artist at Naughty Dog) has been hired, who has already gained a lot of experience with the series. A confirmation from publisher Sony is still pending.
More than twelve years ago, Uncharted: Drake's Fate laid the foundation for one of the most successful PlayStation series ever. In May 2016, Nathan Drake's story ended in Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. Almost a year later, the responsible team from Naughty Dog co-published Uncharted: The Lost Legacy a spin-off in which Chloe and Nadine were the focus of the story.
Now Naughty Dog has finished with Uncharted for the time being. After the release of The Last of Us Part 2, the creators now want to work on either a new IP or Part 3. However, publisher Sony would like to continue the successful PlayStation series. Here, the San Diego Studios team, which is not only known for the MLB series, but also does the motion capturing and face scanning for various titles from Sony, came into focus some time ago.
Now the rumors have rekindled after the studio recently joined Zak Oliver brought the former Naughty Dog Environment Artist on board. The developer has already worked on games like Uncharted 4, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and The Last of Us Part 2. Earlier, there were always clues that linked the studio to Uncharted. Accordingly, the San Diego Studios should work on a third-person action adventure, which is to begin the next chapter "of cinematic story-telling". In addition to Nathan Drake, the Uncharted series offers enough characters that could be the new protagonist for your own game. We will keep you up to date with further developments.
