When the two former BioWare bosses recently founded their new studio Archetype, they revealed only one thing: "Our goal is to develop the greatest story RPG in the world." Your chances of doing so increase, because now a third big BioWare Chef joined the studio – Drew Karpyshyn, who was previously the lead writer on the first two Mass Effect parts.

Dear Mass Effect and Dragon Age fans, you should get the name Archetype notice: The studio has only recently sprouted out of the ground, but is now ruling here three big BioWare names: James Ohlen (Creative Director of Baldur’s Gate, KotoR and Dragon Age: Origins), Chad Robertson (Head of Live Service at Anthem) and from now on Drew Karpyshyn (Lead Writer at Mass Effect 1 & 2). He wrote a lot of the history of KotoR, so we can certainly hope for a good story from Archetype.

Karpyshyn left BioWare in 2018, worked on smaller projects and is now lead writer at Archetype – like him on announced his blog, On the same train he talks about his departure from BioWare, and chats a little out of the sewing box. After everything that has happened over the years (rather: Anthem), we might all have thought that BioWare had some internal problems (rather: crunch and overtime). It is one old, well-known story: Studio grows and becomes successful, bosses change, studio wants to be even more successful and suddenly the focus is no longer on creativity, but on money. Whether BioWare did that well is a completely different matter. Whoever is doing it right is without question Archetype – and Karpyshyn himself, whose “passion is now reviving.” I am excited about the games the studio will develop.

Archetype wants to develop "big sci-fi RPG"

Role-playing fans, roll your digital dice: Under the patronage of Magic: The Gathering developer Wizards of the Coast, the new studio wants Archetype entertainment on story fiction role-playing game develop. The two say they are currently gathering a team of star developers to create an AAA role-playing game with a focus on story and decisions:
