Blizzard will be at Digital Gamescom, according to the event's official website. But what could fans expect there? We look into the glass ball for you.
It's officially clear: Blizzard is taking part in the digital Gamescom 2020. After the organizers had to convert the fair into a digital event due to the corona pandemic, video game enthusiasts can now look forward to a lot of live streams and virtual events that will take place from August 27th to 30th, 2020.
But what does Blizzard have in store for its own fans as part of the digital Gamescom? There is no official information about any live events from the California developers. The fact that Blizzard is listed as part of Activision Blizzard on the Gamescom site does indicate that we will learn information about one or the other Blizzard game as part of the digital Gamescom, such as BlizzPlanet supposed.
Shadowlands release, Diablo IV, Overwatch 2
It will probably take a while before we know for sure what Blizzard is planning for Gamescom 2020. In 2018, the company announced that it would be attending Gamescom just a few days before the start of the trade fair; in 2019, Blizzard decided not to have a trade fair stand. Nevertheless, we believe it is very likely that Blizzard will announce an important announcement at the digital Gamescom 2020, namely the release date of Shadowlands.
Shadowlands is scheduled to appear before December 21, 2020, but an exact release date has not yet been determined. Since the beta is already in full swing and the pre-patch should appear around a month before the expansion starts, digital Gamescom offers the perfect date for the announcement of the release date.
A look at the previous Gamescom showcases from Blizzard shows why an announcement of the release date of Shadowlands at Gamescom 2020 is likely (via BlizzPlanet). In addition to Diablo 3 was WoW (buy now for 14.54 €) represented on almost every Gamescom in recent years. So it may well be that Gamescom 2020 is no exception – who knows, maybe we will even see new trailers for Diablo IV or even Overwatch 2?
