Cyberpunk 2077: The paths of life and what they mean
Do you remember Dragon Age: Origins? If so, you halfway know what I'm talking about: Cyberpunk 2077 lets you choose between three paths before the game starts; three pastswho shape your protagonist V and who first 1-2 hours of the game will change completely. Where did you grow up? In the badlands outside of Night City or in one of the worst neighborhoods in town? Do you work for a corporation and are a city dweller or will your character also see Night City for the first time when you enter?
It is not yet known how profoundly the choice of your life path actually determines the game. It is clear, however, that you – no matter where you come from – can become anything; You will not be denied any skills just because you are a nomad. But every lifepath should also unique dialogue options Offer, unique acquaintances and unique choices that you can make. Night City won't forget who you are.
CD Projekt Red introduces you to the three ways:
While each trail will eventually lead to the same main story, it's the details that you determine right from the start. And what do you choose?
"Wandering the badlands, looting junkyards and robbing tank farms – life on the streets is not easy, but growing up in a nomadic clan has its advantages. Honesty, integrity and a love of freedom – qualities that only a few in Night City possess and that no amount of money can buy."
If you choose the past as a nomad, you also start in the Badlands; outside of Night City. So your prologue shows you the barren, desert-like landscape around the metropolis, but you are alone: for whatever reason you have Turned your back on your clan and want to go into town to find some jobs and keep your head above water.
“They say if you want to understand the streets, you have to live them. Gangs, fixers, dolls, dealers – they all robbed you. Down here is the law of the jungle, according to which the weak serve the strong – it's the only remaining law in Night City that you still have to break. "
You currently live in Heywood and knows the streets of Night City like the back of your hand; you speak the slang, have a reputation and know what's going on. Something that you may find useful later in the game in relation to various non-legal activities. This prologue introduces a V who grew up in Night City but stayed in for a while Atlanta Lived: It's only here because it wants to help a bartender pay off her debt. And for that a must be pronounced expensive car been stolen.
“Few of them leave the company alive – and even fewer leave with an intact soul. You've seen it – you've broken the rules, exploited secrets, and turned information into weapons. There is no such thing as a fair game. Only winners and losers. "
If you live in the corporate world, that's it Meeting room your home. You are a master in business, you can read between the lines and evaluate those with whom you are negotiating. If you choose this path, you start as aspiring employee of the Arasaka Corporation in the counterintelligence department. And you get a very special assignment.
Which life path is best?
Cyberpunk 2077 is above all else an RPG, as it is in the book. Which means that you are going to play a role – obviously – whichever role you choose. You may already have guessed the answer, but it certainly won't generally best way of life give. Simply because you choose who you are; who you want to be.
So the question arises whether there is one best life path for you the answer is yes. You just have to find out which one it is.
Do you want to be someone who grew up poor and knows their way around the streets very well? Who has often come into contact with the darker sides of Night City and knows how to deal with them? Then Streetkid chooses.
On the other hand, if you want to play a character who longs for freedom; who actually can't get anything out of the city and grew up outside? A kind of cyberpunk cowboy who first has to find his way around Night City? Then Nomade should be the right thing for you.
But is a possibly arrogant, somewhat richer character something for you? A link in the corporation's wheel, woven into the intrigues of the corporation; someone who doesn't know life outside the city and yet has his own strategies for seeing through others? Then corporate might be worth considering.
Always remember: Who you are influences not only what you can decide later, but also your surroundings – and how they react to you. Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on November 19th for PS4, Xbox One, Stadia and PC as well as on the next-gen platforms PS5 and Xbox Series X.
