On the test servers, some WoW players noticed with great astonishment that the "Chromie time" feature of Shadowlands has some strange restrictions. If you reach level 50 via this function, you will be teleported to Orgrimmar or Stormwind, for example – no matter where you are and whether you want to or not.
We already told you in detail how that "Chromie Time" feature from WoW: Shadowlands is working. From level 10 you can go to Chromie in Orgrimmar or Stormwind and choose which expansion of World of Warcraft you want to hunt for experience points with before reaching the Shadowlands from level 50. The big advantage of the new feature should be on paper that you can experience the history of an addon without having only "gray" quests in the log at some point.
In practice it works really well, at least until you reach level 50. Several players have been reporting for some time (e.g. here in the official forum) that when you reach this milestone you will be teleported to Orgrimmar or Stormwind after a short warning – whether you want to or not and what you have just done. But not only that. At the same time, the Chromie time feature is also included. You can return to the region in which you just leveled, but then you will no longer benefit from the level scaling of the Chromie time. In other words: In the regions of Vanilla, TBC or WotLK you can expect level 30 opponents, in Cataclysm and MoP level 35 enemies, in WoD level 40 villains and in Legion level 45 scoundrels. At level 50, this is of course only conditionally fun …
So some gamers are annoyed that the developers' promise at Chromie time will not be fulfilled. On the contrary, you will be torn out of the experience of an expansion once you have reached level 50, regardless of whether it has ended or not. It is also criticized that as a level 50+ character you no longer have access to the Chromie time. It would be really cool to be able to use the function, for example, to tackle old dungeons or raids again at the corresponding level.
In addition, it is currently not possible to use the Chromie time if you have deactivated receiving experience for the character. If so, Chromie simply refuses to speak to the character. Although the post is already a few weeks under its belt and a lot of players have spoken, there has been no reaction from Blizzard so far. If that changes, we will of course keep you informed.
