WoW back in top 5, Genshin Impact with a strong debut

The analysts at Superdata have once again looked at the sales figures for all PC, console and mobile games and published the charts for the month of October 2020. Spoiler: The Free2Play role-playing game Genshin Impact makes a strong debut, WoW climbs back into the top 5 and Pokémon Go regains the top position in the mobile segment.

As strong as the first nine months of the year (also due to Corona) were (here the numbers from September), the hot phase in the games industry is known to come to an end in the last quarter – and this is also reflected in the latest report by the Superdata analysts for the month of October.

Before we show you the top 10 in the PC, mobile and console sectors, we will first – as usual – discuss some of the special features of the month:

The upcoming Shadowlands launch as well as the upcoming phase 6 of Classic in December provide a tailwind: WoW can fight its way from position 8 back into the top 5 of the PC charts.
Pokémon Go can reclaim the top spot in the mobile charts (September: 2nd place)
Genshin Impact is having an extremely strong debut month. The Free2Play role-playing game was able to take second place in the mobile charts despite the strong competition. On the console it is enough for an equally good place 9.
Watch Dogs: Legion also has a strong launch. With 1.9 million units sold, it is enough for a franchise record and number 3 in the console charts.
Star Wars: Squadrons does not appear in the charts, but the niche title (due to the genre) sold better than Star Wars: Battlefront 2 when it was launched (1.1 million units sold versus 1 million units sold). But the title does not come close to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (2.9 million units sold at launch).
Compared to October 2019, the Xbox Game Pass, Playstation Now and EA Play services generated 142 percent more revenue in October 2020, and the number of subscribers rose by 113 percent. Xbox Game Pass is responsible for most of the growth.
