WoW Classic: Scourge Event – mandatory farm for all DpS experts
Phase 6 of WoW Classic starts with the Scourge Invasion: Suddenly necropolises float in the sky everywhere in Azeroth, while the Scourge troops are up to mischief on the ground. If you want to know more details about the in-game event of the vanilla era, we recommend our following review:
This guide is about two specific consumables with which you can significantly increase the damage you cause in the fight against the undead – above all facing Naxxramas is exciting. We mean that Blessed magic oil, which increases your spell damage against the undead by 60 points, as well as the Consecrated whetstone, which increases your attack power against the undead by 100. If you want to prepare yourself optimally for several weeks and months in Naxxramas, you should stick to the supply of the items. You can only earn the magic oil and the whetstones during the Scourge invasion.

WoW Classic: Where do I get this stuff from?
With phase 6 there will be a whole series of new quests, especially in the Eastern Plaguelands, and some of these tasks reward you with Blessed Magic Oil or Consecrated Whetstones – you have the choice, sometimes there are even several units of the respective item. The quest is particularly important Menacing shadows. Not only will they reward you with two units of Blessed Magic Oil or Consecrated Whetstones each, you will unlock the option at the Argent outfitter at the Chapel of Light of Hope, eight each Necrotic runes to exchange for a Blessed Magic Oil or a Consecrated Whetstone.
You can get the Necrotic Runes from the Scourge Troops in the high-level zones Eastern Plaguelands, Burning Steppes, Blasted Lands, Tanaris, Azshara and Winterspring (every third or fourth Scourge servant dropped an average of one rune when tested on the PTR). In addition, elite undead can appear in the capital cities of Undercity and Stormwind, which also drop runes. You can also earn Necrotic Runes by knocking down Scourge units near Necrotic Shards until acolytes appear who want to repair the shard. Interrupt the process with Necrotic Runes, which will turn the Acolytes into nasty shadow creatures. These shadows then also drop runes (more than you need for the interruption).
If you get hold of a supply of Necrotic Runes, please note that due to the lack of a Windfury totem, Alliance players need twice as many whetstones as Horde melee fighters who are regularly in a group with a shaman. How many runes you ultimately need depends heavily on how much time you will spend in Naxxramas. The effects of both consumables last for an hour each.
WoW Classic: How much DpS do the items bring?
Of the Youtuber and guide author Snomie ran the whole thing through simulations for villains. Here is the result:
- Horde villains with daggers gain at least 21 damage per second
- Horde villains with swords receive a bonus of at least 27 damage per second
- Alliance villains with daggers receive a bonus of at least 32 damage per second (on two weapons)
- Alliance villains with swords get a bonus of at least 40 damage per second (on two weapons)
If you look at how much DpS growth most item upgrades in the raids promise, then the effect of the two consumables is enormous and the short-term farm effort is absolutely worthwhile.
