(buy now for € 34.99) To demystify, we are today in places in Kalimdor and in the Eastern Kingdoms, which have apparently been forgotten by the WoW developers. Do you know the fishing pier at Newman's landing site in Dun Morogh? Have you ever visited the mountain cave in Dun Morogh? And what reason could there be for the abandoned tauren farm in the south of Silithus? We literally traveled to the end of the world and show you partly abandoned, partly inhabited places in Azeroth that are far from the gunshot – and which rarely gets anyone to see them.On our journey, the mysteries of WoW
Dun Morogh: Newman's landing site
The reason for the existence of Newman's landing site is unknown, but it is one of the mysterious places that have at least one name. Because right at the right end of the pier is a sign with the name Newmans landing site. This very small area on Dun Morogh's west coast is occupied by the pier and a hut that has seen much better days in the past. The windows are smashed, the foundation overgrown with green moss, cobwebs hang in the entablature.
In front of the house you will find an oven, a butter churn and empty boxes – with the telltale sign of the Lordaeron grain – the reason for the destruction of Stratholmes. But before we start speculating on the history of Newmans Landing, let's take a look inside the hut. The furniture is broken, there are four skeletons on the floor; a pile of bones rests in the fireplace – macabre! Who could have lived here? The building is reminiscent of the old huts in Tirisfal and in the plague countries. And the crates of grain suggest that the plague itself has reached the coast of Dun Morogh. The tragic fate behind Newman's landing site is a mystery. But allegedly the ghost of a woman pleading for help is said to have been seen on the steps into the house.
You can find Newman's landing site on the Classic servers in Dun Morogh at coordinates 42/60. Swims from the marshes or from Westfall.
Newman's landing site today: In WoW Classic the pier is empty, only in WoW: Cataclysm is used by swag bay goblins as a transshipment point for hot goods. So if you want to pay a visit to Newsman's landing site on the live servers, you will find the following: On the pier there are two loots from Booty Bay and an NPC named High Admiral "Shelly" Jorrik – pensioner. Unless the NPCs have been beaten up by a player, Jorrik stands at the pier with his fishing rod. He can repair your equipment and has blacksmithing on offer. Entertaining: The goblin speaks with the voice of a gnome.
Silithus: The abandoned tauren farm
On the most south-western tip of Silithus and only by extensive swim tour from Feralas or Tanaris you will also find the abandoned Taurendorf on the Classic servers, the benefits of which are still unknown. This farm is designed in great detail: there are two canoes on the shore, a wind turbine that rotates slowly in the hills, the tents have colorful drawings on the inside walls, a campfire and carpets flicker on the floor and on the walls in the nicely furnished main building invite you to linger. This farm was completely deserted and was not inhabited – an ideal place for guild meetings, for example, if you are not afraid of the long journey.
A few steps further east is an abandoned cave system – apart from the skeletons of some poor souls lying on the stone floor. The layout of the caves is reminiscent of the following: At the bottom there are two rooms that are connected to the paths of the upper part of the cave via winding corridors. There are trees in front of the cave and even some birds fly through the branches. So it doesn't look like the caves are just a remnant of a forgotten development process.
You can find the abandoned tauren farm on the Classic servers in Silithus at coordinates 40/96. Swims from Feralas or Tanaris. We warn of elite sharks, giants and turtles.
The tauren farm today: Today there is only water on the live servers where the farm was located. It is almost as if the land on which the farm was found was simply separated. Pity! In the south of Silithus, at the southernmost corner of the continent, you can still find the abandoned caves that have been relocated with Cataclysm. It is not actually the Silithus region, but rather the area that has been named Ahn'Qiraj: The Fallen Kingdom since Cataclysm.
Arathi Highlands: The Dwarves' Farm
In the east of the Arathi highlands you can see a green spot on the map on the coast. Have you ever wondered what is there? Then "gloomy" – that is, swimming – to this seemingly untouched patch of earth. Because there is a dwarf farm. Or at least the farm of two dwarfs; two dwarf farmers. The farm is quite extensive: ears of wheat grow on two fields, there is a jetty on the bank, two rams are in the stable, and in front of the actual farmhouse there is a toilet, a butter churn and a small bread oven. Or a still instead of an oven, we are not quite sure about that.
But first step into the stone building, because it is really quaint and you can make yourself comfortable. On the fully laid table you will find meat, cheese and bread, the fire crackles in the fireplace, next to it is a bed with a boar head grinning. However, the dwarf on the east coast of the Arathi highlands does not seem to be able to sleep soundly. To protect him from attackers, he has a pistol and two grenades on his bedside table. The farm is very detailed, only the two-dimensional oat straws in the fields do not really fit into the picture. Strange: Talk to the peasant farmer – there is still a dwarf outside in front of the door – then he wants to show you the way, for example to the bank or the gryphon master. The dwarf claims, "You won't find a griffin here in Dun Morogh, girl." We're still trying to figure out how to teach the stubborn not to be in Dun Morogh …
You can find the dwarf farm on the Classic servers in the Arathi highlands at coordinates 90/72 on the east coast of the region. Swims eastwards from the Thandol clasp.
The dwarf farm today: Then as now, the farm exists in WoW. Flies north from the Shadow Highlands coast towards the Arathi Highlands. You will find the farm at coordinates 87/77. The dwarven farmer is part of the alliance, if you kill him as a hordler, you will be flagged for the PvP game.
The following two mysterious locations can only be reached in Classic via wall jumps. If you want to know where you can jump off, or at least try, you can find information on YouTube, for example. Because we are dyslexic jumpers, we could not verify the original existence of the mountain cave including chat glitch, because an expensive 100 percent mount is of great help to the wall jumps.
Marshland: The hidden dwarf outpost
The hidden outpost of the dwarves in the marshland is actually not that hidden, after all it can even be found on the marshland map, although no name is displayed for it. The only way to get to the outpost is to drop the mountains from Eisenschmiede airfield. There are advantages to the heroes, who can plunge slowly into the depths or take reduced fall damage, because the way down is deep and the impact is hard. However, if you dare to descend the village (around 60/13) carefully, you can survive without a slowdown. You can start your wall jump at the north gate pass of Loch Modan.
The most entertaining detail of the outpost is not one of the houses, which cannot all be entered (not even the house with the "grass door"), but a signpost. It has the inscriptions "This way", "That way" and "The other way". "This way" leads to a tunnel that was formerly called "Tunnel into nowhere" – this tunnel is blocked on the live servers, but not on the classic servers! This is where the love of Blizzard's classic replicas for detail can be seen.

Because even on the Classic servers, the character falls through the world. In the past, however, the hero went for it. Today we were thrown from the server several times after our jump into nothing and landed – surprise – in the tunnel to the deep railway! Magic! Blocked tunnels can be found at the Eisenschmiede airfield – it can be assumed that the tunnels should one day connect the marshland with Eisenschmiede; the dwarf city also had another ring in the first designs. By the way, a tunnel system in the north of Eisenenschmiede would have been a much more practical way into the marshland …
The Dwarf Outpost Today: In the meantime you can just fly to the south of the marshland. To the southeast of the port of Menethil, you can see the outpost on the map. These are several dwarf buildings: a stable and several apartment buildings. At least a hut can now be entered, but is hardly equipped with furniture or other decorations. It is the house in front of which the Eisenenschmiede mountain troops train their shooting skills. However, as already mentioned, the gate with the tunnel into nothing is closed.
Dun Morogh: The mountain cave
Almost in the neighboring zone you can find the mountain cave in Dun Morogh, little more than a hole in the stones. It is a small cave with dim light that can be found between the south gate outpost in Dun Morogh and Loch Modan. This cave, as inconspicuous as it may seem, already existed in Classic WoW and survived the cataclysm safely. At least at first glance. Few players managed to reach the cave before the cataclysm.
And for those who succeeded, the little cave posed some puzzles. Because the cave previously had a different name: "Ortell's secret cave". And Ortell is none other than the hermit in Silithus, who translated the texts from the Schattenhammer clan for you. Ortell, a former member of the Twilight Hammer cult, may have been in Dun Morogh … And something else was strange about Cataclysm: as soon as you entered the cave, the Dun Morogh chat channel changed to Silithus. So you could stand directly in the snowy mountains of Dun Morogh and chat with the buddies in Silithus – another Ortell secret? Rather, the developers only shipped the cave layout from Silithus to Dun Morogh, without adapting such "little things" as names and chat. Nowadays on the live servers, the mountain cave is just the mountain cave, and there are no more inconsistencies to speculate as to what the cave might have been used for.
Where can you find the mountain cave? In the easternmost corner of Dun Morogh the live server at coordinates 95/43.
