The first World of Warcraft expansion The Burning Crusade is one of the most successful addons due to the surreal settings and the Black Temple raid with end boss Illidan. Since Blizzard may be planning a new "Classic" edition, we review the launch day with pictures and a video. Have fun!
World of Warcraft The Burning Crusade (TBC or BC) is the first expansion for World of Warcraft. It was first introduced on October 28, 2005 and published in Europe on the night of January 16-17, 2007. The main features include increasing the level cap to 70, introducing the blood elves and draenei as playable races, and the Outland including many new zones, dungeons, items, quests and monsters. The extension was available in two versions, a Standard Edition and the Collector's Edition.
The quests in The Burning Crusade are a direct continuation of the original World of Warcraft in terms of timeline. In Outland, the former World Draenor, players can essentially explore the new expansion through the quests again on their own. The main story is about Illidan, the traitor, and what has happened to him in the past few years since WoW Classic. Players can also complete quests in which they either support Illidan or prepare for his downfall. In addition, there are many connecting lines between the former Draenor world and the current Outland, such as the opening of the Dark Portal by Medivh, which can be relived in the Caverns of Time, and various quest lines that provide insight into the relationship between the ancient Orc shamans and the burning Grant Legion long before the First War.
In the following, commented picture gallery from the Burning Crusade launch you can see some of the unforgettable moments such as the mass of players in front of the Dark Portal, the horrors of the Hellfire Peninsula, the first blood elf and draenei quests, the first level 70 player in Europe and more more. You will also find a video of the launch event in Berlin, including an interview with lead dungeon artist Brian Morrisroe, and the very first BuffedShow that started with the Burning Crusade beta. Have fun!
