A crazy community challenge has been particularly popular since WoW Legion: Reach the maximum level without choosing a game style. With the BfA, however, the possibility was removed again. Anyone who leveled at level 10 was assigned a style of play from now on. Since the Shadowlands pre-patch it is possible to level without spec again. Due to the lack of talents as well as active and passive skills, this comes close to the Iron Man Challenge. You need strong nerves for this challenge as the spec's bonuses just make playing so much easier.

Now spec-less players have like Jirasonis dared to venture into the final content of Shadowlands with his priest and leveled from level 50 to 60 without choosing a game style. Next he wants to see how Mythic Plus and Raids work without the important spells and effects of the gameplay. Icy-veins interviewed one of these players.

Why do you start such an attempt?
Why not? For the same reason, people start the Iron Man Challenge. It's not uncommon to see if it's even feasible. It's something new, a challenge. And I've already brought two Holy Priests to level 60 and I wanted to try something new.

How did that start?
I started at level 10 and was too lazy to choose a spec. Then I leveled through dungeons and realized that it worked. Then later at level 40 I decided that I would never choose a spec again.

And how "fast" do you level up?
Unfortunately not faster. As a holy priest, holy torment causes 50 percent more damage. Of course, I still have thoughts, but unfortunately it does not cause as much damage.

Which spells were you actually able to use?
Only those that can be found in the spellbook under "Priest", no spells of the Discis, Holys doer Shadows.

Did other players notice something?
No, actually not. Only once in a Black Temple raid did someone ask me why I only heal with Flash Healing. It was pretty funny after telling him I didn't choose a spec.

Are you going to make M + and Schloss Nathria unsafe soon?
Yes, as soon as I have enough gear. At the moment I'm at item level 161. But I don't want to be pulled through, I want to do my job.

And was it worth the effort?
Yes, it was a real challenge that was actually doable. And playing endgame content without people noticing that you don't have a spec is pretty fun.
