Life as a hero in Azeroth can be stressful at times. No sooner have you killed any crazy dragon than an annoying old god suddenly comes to life or a crazy Titan decides that he would like to receive a beating for the third time. That sucks in the long run – and so that our heroes don't vegetate in the next field hospital with stomach ulcers and post-traumatic stress syndrome at some point, we should give them the opportunity to relax adequately from time to time. But when there is a battle of something raging all the time and everywhere in Azeroth, how and where should you switch off and relax? If you've already asked yourself exactly this question, you've come to the right place. In this special we tell you the best places to chill out in World of Warcraft and show you which activities in Azeroth your character, who is constantly being saved by the world, can really relax and unwind. And best of all, the cherry on the Malaga ice cream sundae: You can also grab one or two chic rewards.

When it comes to relaxing activities in Azeroth, there's one thing you can't miss out on: fishing. Fishing not only works almost everywhere, but on top of that according to such simple principles that it requires little concentration and skill – perfect for relaxing for a leisurely round from the stressful everyday raid. If you want to try your hand at fishing in World of Warcraft, there is an overwhelming selection of potential fishing spots to choose from. You can also complete various fishing-related achievements and quests and get lots of special items and similar rewards. We don't want to offer you a comprehensive fishing guide at this point, but instead explain a specific fishing activity from the current expansion that is particularly suitable for relaxing and doing things on the side.
The secret fish of Mechagon
Fishing is all about fish. And in WoW very often about particularly rare fish. The successes "The Secret Fish of Mechagon" and "Secret Fish and Where to Find Them", which build on each other, revolve around special fish that you can only catch on the island of Mechagon. We have included these achievements in our list because you will receive a special reward for completing the second achievement, namely the toy hypercompressed ocean. When used, this toy creates an ocean in a bubble, from which you can fish all the fish that are in WoW (really all, including boxes and quest fish). The advantage: you can summon the ocean anywhere. In addition, the swimmer on your line always lands in the same place in the middle of the ocean, so you can fish particularly relaxed – perfect for completing further fishing successes. The only catch: the toy has a cooldown time of one hour and only lasts 15 minutes.
But how exactly do the achievements work and how do you get to the hypercompressed ocean? It all starts with the fact that you have to catch a total of ten rare fish on the island of Mechagon, which you can only fish in certain places on the island. The catch rate for each of these fish is around one percent, so you should allow some time if you want to complete the success. If you have caught one of the fish, you will automatically receive a quest that instructs you to bring the fish to Danielle Anglers, who is on the west coast of Mechagon (at 37/47). The fish themselves are waiting for you to pull them out of the water in the following places:
- Power cod – catchable anywhere on the Mechagon coast, most likely near Danielle Anglers
- Solar pinion – catchable anywhere on the Mechagon coast, most likely near Danielle Anglers
- Bolt jaw – catchable anywhere on the Mechagon coast, most likely near Danielle Anglers
- Tasty steel fin – catchable in the lake to the northwest of Mechagon at 47/37
- Stinky founder – Catchable in the bay on the east coast of Mechagon south of Rustbolzen at 79/49
- Pool bouncer – Catchable in the pond north of Bondo's farm at 65/32
- Dark grotto eel – catchable in scrap bone construction at 59/24
- Mud carp – Catchable in the small pond southeast of Bondo's farm at 65/51
- Spitting clown fish – catchable on the southeast coast of Mechagon at 83/72
- Mechanical puffer fish – Catchable on the southeast coast of the second largest island of the West Spray at 25/77
If you have caught these fish and delivered them to Danielle Anglers, you will receive the fishfinder goggles as a reward, which you in turn need for the achievement "Secret fish and where to find them". Now you have to "catch" 30 more fish – and by catch we mean collecting. Because you are no longer actually fishing for this achievement. Instead, you put on the fish finder goggles and receive a buff that causes a water bubble to appear within a 40 meter radius around your character. A few seconds later, a fish appears in the bubble that you can click on. You will then receive a randomly chosen fish – and with a lot of luck one of the 30 fish you need for success. You can collect some fish at any location, for others you have to meet certain requirements:
The easiest way to get the fish that you have to collect as a ghost is to unsaddle from the flying mount above the flying island next to the airfield in Dalaran (Broken Isles) and jump into the depths. If you have died, you can easily collect the fish by using the flying in your spirit form.
Archeology in WoW – digging until the doctor comes
In addition to fishing, there is also another sideline in WoW, with which you can spend a lot of time in the great outdoors of Azeroth and relax from the exhausting endgame everyday life: archeology. Blizzard has unfortunately neglected this profession in the past, but it still offers some incentives and rewards that invite you to dig all over Azeroth. Like fishing, archeology also has a number of different achievements, two of which we would like to introduce to you at this point.
The home of knowledge
The success "The Home of Knowledge" is all about archeology in Pandaria. Your job is to collect pristine versions of all the pandaren and mogu facts found on Pandaria. There are 20 of them, whereby the drop rate or the probability of receiving a certain artifact as an excavation project is ten percent. So you need to complete at least 720 digs to receive this achievement (some players report up to 1,300 digs). But the effort is worth it: you are not only traveling through some of the most beautiful areas of World of Warcraft (buy now 15.00 € )(Pandaria has a lot of highlights to offer visually), but as a reward for the success it receives the title "Seekers of knowledge"- and according to WoWHead only three percent of all WoW profiles have achieved this.
No stone left unturned
If the effort for the excavations in Pandaria seems too great for you or you find the luck-dependent search for certain artifacts too stressful, we have another excavation success for you: "Leave no stone unturned" requires you to visit 250 excavation sites of the Legion in the Broken Isles. 250 sounds a lot easier than 720, doesn't it? And the same applies here: You get to see a lot of great landscapes and receive a special title as a reward, namely "the excavator", which two percent of all profiles have achieved. A tip at the end: Enchanters can enchant the gloves"Surveying the Broken Isles"that will greatly increase the speed of archaeological research in the Broken Isles.
Your little farm – agriculture to switch off
It sometimes happens that successful personalities suddenly decide to quit their job in order to devote themselves to farm life – to relax, to slow down and to reduce stress. This is exactly what you can do in WoW, namely by cultivating your own small farm in Pandaria. The feature that Blizzard pioneered the garrison to introduce in Mists of Pandaria is somewhat reminiscent of a Spartan version of Harvest Moon and is still fun, even though the harvested crops are no longer of any real use.
If you want to escape the stressful city life of Stormwind or Orgrimmar and simply enjoy a relaxing change, first go to the Valley of the Four Winds on Pandaria, more precisely to Halbhügel, a pandaren village located in the center of the zone. There you will meet farmer Yoon, who asks you for help with the management of the farm that his grandfather left him. The task "A helping hand" starts an extensive series of quests in which you build up the farm and learn how to plant and harvest crops. Later, you unlock daily quests that will increase your reputation with the arable farmers faction and expand the area of your farm. You can also make friends with the individual arable farmers in Half-Hills to unlock special rewards such as farm animals and furniture for your farmhouse.
The feature of the farm in Pandaria is very extensive and will keep you busy for a long time if you want to unlock all the rewards and components. The farm itself works like a game within a game with various varied tasks, which is why it is particularly suitable for simply switching off a little and getting other thoughts.
Azeroth is worth the trip
Blizzard once called flying in WoW a big mistake and found that players don't get enough of the individual zones of Azeroth if they can constantly travel through the air from A to B without having to set foot on the ground. Opinions can be divided as to whether flying was actually a mistake, but it is obvious that we are missing out on a lot if we do without ground mounts altogether. A trip through Azeroth on a ground mount offers several advantages: We perceive the game world with more open eyes, can discover small and large features and also relax wonderfully when we comfortably ride the cobbled streets of Elwynn or hike through it Alterac Mountains to do.
If you are now interested in a journey through Azeroth that invites you to relax and enjoy yourself, you will find a few suggestions for extended riding tours, but also alternative routes with special means of transport.
Per ground mount from the Eastern Plaguelands to Booty Bay
The Eastern Kingdoms have a lot to offer visually. You will get to see a lot of it as you ride south from the Eastern Plaguelands until you arrive in Booty Bay. Numerous attractions are on your way, for example:
- the enchanted mushroom circle in the western marshes of Tirisfal (at 17/67), where a few singing fairy dragons appear every 15 minutes
- the waterfalls in Elwynn Forest, where you can meet a number of strange NPCs
- the old iron forge, which you can enter through a door in the throne room and where you can admire the holy iron forge, among other things
- a secret passage in Stormwind's Dwarf District, which you can enter through the back door of Cutthroat Alley
- numerous NPCs that remind of real (and partly deceased) people, for example Bradford T. Karon (Brad Lawson) in the foothills of the hill country or the Unknown Soldier in the northeast of the Mirkwood
Travel with the alternative means of transport from WoW
The deep tram, which transports you from Stormwind to Ironforge and back, as well as the ships and zeppelins with which you can travel back and forth between the individual continents of Azeroth, ensure a more functional journey. If you want to get from one point to another quickly, you are in good hands here. However, in WoW there are also a few means of transport beyond the classic mounts and the usual flight and ship routes, which invite you to relax and are also a lot of fun:
- the rocket train in Azshara – get on at one point and let yourself be transported to the other end of the map (extra tip: zoom in on your character with the camera so that you can experience the journey from the first person's perspective)
- the trip with the zeppelin from Orgrimmar to Donnerfels – travels back and forth between the two capitals in the zeppelin to enjoy a breathtaking view of the landscapes below you from above (without loading screen)
- You also have the option of building your own boat or raft with which you can take a relaxing river or sea cruise on the waters of Azeroth (and go fishing on the side):
- During the mini-holiday "Dance of a Thousand Boats" you can set up a small boat that will carry you across the water for seven days and move faster than a flight mount.
- The quests in a thousand needles reward you with a river boat, which can only be used in a thousand needles.
- If you have achieved a respectful reputation with the Anglers in Pandaria faction, their leader Nat Pagle will sell you a fishing raft that you can use anywhere on Azeroth.

From mini-games and jukeboxes – more ways to relax in Azeroth
Aside from the endgame grind and level phase, Azeroth offers many employment opportunities that invite you to relax – and we have by no means listed all of them in this article. Be it the various mini-games such as the Postmaster Quest in Dalaran, the Plants-vs-Zombies clone in the foothills of the hill country and the challenges of the Darkmoon Fair, be it the opportunity to unlock special music tracks via the Mechagon gramophone or the garrison's jukebox, be it the numerous hidden Easter Eggs that Azeroth has to offer: WoW rewards you when you are off the beaten track and accept the options for slowing down that the developers give you.
