After the faction war of Battle for Azeroth, the supporters of the Alliance and Horde lick their wounds. In Shadowlands we have some peace and quiet from the devastating conflicts, which is perfectly embodied by the capital of the Shadowlands. Oribos is available as a refuge for both the adventurers in blue and the heroes in red. No more Boralus and Dazar'alor, the two cities that could hardly be more different. In Shadowlands we no longer have to jealously compare with whom craft NPCs and Co. can be better reached. (Boralus. The answer is Boralus.) In the realm of the dead, or at least its capital, we are almost all the same again.
No frustration when visiting Oribos in Shadowlands thanks to the ring shape
Speaking of "the same"! The structure of Oribos is also much "fairer" and somewhat reminiscent of Dalaran. Because the Shadowlands city is again basically a circular structure with side chambers, which means that places such as the restaurant, transmogrifier, bank or craft district are all about the same distance from the center. This optimized structure ensures that there are no unfairly placed services, as was the case most recently for the Hordler in Dazar'alor in BfA. Where exactly you can find everything, you can of course easily understand with the map and picture gallery of this article.
- Teleporters to Orgrimmar and Stormwind
- Entrance area of the ring of destinies
- Teleporter to the ring of transmission
- Craft district
- Guild bank
- Weekly chest
- Entrances to the Mediator's Lair
- Fate writer Ro-Tahl
- Battle Pet Vendors, Void Storage & Transmogrifiers
- Stable Master for Battle Pets
- Enclave of the Four Pacts
- PvP traders
In our picture gallery we present the individual points again separately:

Life & death as aesthetics
When strolling through the massive halls of the city, associations come to mind. The massive stone pillars and patterns are partly reminiscent of the bombastic buildings of dwarfs, vrycul and titans. Again and again you recognize symmetry and self-contained patterns. By the way, this is no wonder, because the name Oribos is a clear homage to the word "Uroboros". The latter describes a symbol representing a snake or a dragonbiting its own tail and closing a circle. Such images already existed in ancient Egypt, the term Uroboros itself is ancient Greek for "self-consuming". The symbol stands above all for the cycle of life and death. And what could fit better with the architecture in the capital of the Shadowlands, where our demise is just a new beginning in the afterlife (or a rebirth through the night fae)?
By the way, a great feature of Oribos' architecture is the vertical or rather its pleasant lack. Despite the high halls, you can actually find all the important services on one level. So you don't have to run up and down stairs!
Who actually "lives" here?
Apart from the representatives of the four pacts, the NPCs you meet are mainly composed of the so-called Mediators and the Servants together. These two humanoid "races" have their origins beyond the four Pact areas that we explore as part of our adventures. The servants specifically have the protection and maintenance of Oribos as their primary objective. You are supporting the so-called judge, the head of the entire Shadowlands. There are powerful protectors who, if necessary, use force to maintain order in Oribos, wise scholars who preserve the knowledge of the Eternal City, and administrators who are responsible for other work.
In contrast to the eternal servants of the judge, many of the mediators are practically newcomers. They are mainly in Oribos to get in touch with us, the mysterious mortals. Instead of a head, you have a glowing flame, the face is literally a stone mask. But don't be put off! The intermediaries are enthusiastic traders and therefore offer all the services that we know and would miss from the world of the living. Regardless of whether you are a hairdresser, pet dealer, tavern owner or bank employee, your contact person is an intermediary.
With their magical looks, their mysterious intentions and their society, which is divided into cartels, they are vaguely reminiscent of the astrals. However, the intermediaries come from a remote part of the Shadowlands, which we as players probably don't get to see. Her affinity for trade and being an information broker also ensures that you will find her outside of Oribos, for example in Revendreth and Bastion. Quests of the respective pacts let you meet the mediators again and again. For example, you have to interact with various of their dealers in order to obtain important items as a Venthyr follower for the Emberhof, the big party of the pact of the afterlife vampires.
We hope that you enjoyed the little excursion to Oribos and that you can find your way around perfectly with this guide. If you have any questions or want to get something to say about Oribos: Just write it in the comments!
