The dungeon browser should go live with Phase 2 of WoW: Burning Crusade Classic and we looked at the LFG tool on the public test server.
The contents of Phase 2 von WoW: Burning Crusade Classic are known to have recently landed on the public test server and we immediately logged in to take a look at the modernized version of the dungeon browser.
For the context: For the first time, a user interface for the group search was introduced with patch 2.0.1. The official patch notes read as follows:
“A new tool is available to make it easier for players to find groups for dungeon instances and quests. The new user interface enables players to announce their exact group searches in a collaborative system in order to speed up the process of group formation. who are already in a group and are looking for reinforcement can easily find additional members.
- Information from innkeepers about dungeons has been removed in preparation for the new group search system.
- User interface for group search (LFG / LFM)
- Added tips for the loading screen and for new players.
- Meeting stones now work in a similar way to the warlocks summoning spells.
- A player selects a party member to be summoned and right-clicks on the stone. A second party member clicks on the stone to complete the summoning. “
At that time, the group search from TBC did not work automatically or across many servers, as is the case today. That only came with Patch 3.3 in Wrath of the Lich King. Instead, you could leave a wish to join a group for the various dungeons, or you could search for players who are interested in group content XY.
Before the launch of TBC Classic, the developers promised to modernize this tool without turning it into a retail version with an automated cross-realm group search.
The dungeon browser on the PTR of TBC Classic Phase 2
And what does this modernization look like on the public test server? Well, pretty unspectacular. Between sociability and options you will now find a new option in the menu: Dungeon browser. If you click on this, a new window opens with two tabs: “Search for group” and “Search for members”.
In the first tab you can switch up to three LFG requests in parallel, whereby you can specifically search for groups for dungeons, raids, zones and heroic dungeons.
While the raids also offer you classic instances such as Zul’Gurub and BWL, only Outland content appears in the dungeons and zones. The list should not be complete, however, since the Hellfire Peninsula, Zangamarschen and Terokkar forests are missing from the zones.
If you confirm your search, your request will appear in the “Search for members” area if the relevant parameters have been entered. Of course, you can also display requests from other players there and fill up your group.
Compared to the original version, there have so far been no noteworthy modernizations or comfort functions. With the Functions and filter options from the LFG Group Bulletin Board TBC add-on the official dungeon browser can’t keep up with that. Are you still satisfied or did you expect more?
