If one speaks of the best damage dealers in a raid, then many players reduce the answer to this question to the pure DpS, which can be achieved either in simulations or in real logs. But that is only half the truth. Because a raid in WoW is much more than just causing stupid damage to a target. The battles have to be survived, mechanics have to be countered and certain other tasks have to be done. Only if you include all the important factors in the equation can you begin to say which classes and playing styles are really good or bad. But of course the pure DpS belong in and play an important role.
In addition, a ranking that is always and everywhere cannot be set up for an entire raid anyway. The fights are too different and in general you usually play much better with your favorite class than if you want to play another spec or class on the bend or break. And then everyone weights the different factors differently. For example, what is more important to you in saving the Sun King? More DpS or the opportunity to heal Kael'thas on the side? The answer varies from player to player and from group to group.
Nevertheless, the top guild Method sat down and created a ranking of which classes in Schloss Nathria are on average to be rated the most. In doing so, they not only look at the DpS, but also at other, useful properties.
We have summarized the list from the video for you with the important arguments for the placement.
The Retributor can inflict enormous burst damage every minute, which fits perfectly with many bosses where adds appear around these time intervals or special burst phases take place. He also has a lot of helpful skills such as his blessings, auras and can even distribute some healing if necessary. However, the gameplay is a bit irregular and outside of its cooldowns the damage is very manageable.
The Fury Warrior shines with consistently high damage and brings a few useful effects thanks to his screams. In addition, the rotation plays very smoothly and without annoying downtime in which you have nothing to press. The damage to individual targets could be better, but the area damage is very strong. The negative side of the constant damage, however, is the lack of a halfway effective DpS cooldown, which has a negative effect in fights with burst sections such as Schlickfist.
8th place – Feral Druid
The cats offer very good burst damage to individual targets as long as the burst window is not too small. But the constant damage is also impressive. They also have an extremely high degree of mobility. Unfortunately, they hardly bring useful skills that a balance druid does not have in their luggage, which makes it difficult for them to outperform the competition in the few places of melee fighters.
7th place – shadow priest
Huge damage on single targets and good burst damage on multiple targets. Can its cooldown Soul of power act flexibly on other players. However, the priest has a hard time maintaining his DpS when he has to move. In addition, the cleave damage is rather manageable.
6th place – Unheilig Death Knight
Very heavy Execute damage and with the Army of the Dead a ridiculously strong cooldown. Antimagic field is one of the most powerful raid cooldowns in the game. On the other hand, they also have the worst mobility in the entire game and have great problems keeping their DpS high when they have to change targets.
5th place – marksmanship hunter
Wild spirits (Nachtfae) is a ridiculously strong burst cooldown for area and cleave damage and the hunter also causes high single target damage. In addition, he has very good mobility and can work almost any ability out of movement. But he only does really high damage if he has an acceptable level of critical hit rating.
Very high single target and area damage. Thanks to the shields, it is also quite robust and the mobility is impressive. Besides, he increases thanks Arcane intelligence the damage of all magic classes, which is why you always want to have a mage in the raid. However, the fire mage is quite dependent on his equipment. It only causes a lot of damage when the item level is correspondingly high. In addition, due to some changes at the start of Shadowlands, the gameplay does not feel particularly smooth.
3rd place – Windrunner Monk
Extremely high burst and cleave damage and at the same time very high damage to individual targets. In addition, there is a very high degree of mobility. However, when fighting against individual targets, there are always gaps in the rotation, which makes the game uneven. Due to the weak scaling with increasing equipment, the monk will lose significantly in strength in upcoming raids.
2nd place – balance druid
Thanks to its Legendary, the Boomkin has both very strong single target and area damage. thanks Convocation of the spirits (Nachtfae) he also has an absurdly strong cooldown that causes ridiculous burst damage. There are also good defensive cooldowns like Tree bark and Bear shape, as well as high flexibility thanks Heart of the wild. In return, it has hardly any significant weaknesses.
1st place – Affliction Warlock
Extremely high damage on one to three targets, which is important in almost every fight in Castle Nathria. Burst damage is also one of the strongest things in WoW (buy now € 14.99 ) is to be found. However, the gameplay is quite error-prone and complicated. Mistakes are punished with a high loss of DpS, which can quickly turn the class into a mediocre damage dealer. He also gets into trouble when he has to change targets and has only moderate area damage.
How do you think about that? Do you agree with Method's list or have you had other experiences in the Nathria Castle raid?
