Both the Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S come with double Dolby support. Accordingly, the two NextGen consoles from Microsoft support both Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision.

As of yesterday, the exact technical specifications for both the Xbox Series X and the cheaper Xbox Series S are known. As the tweet shows, both the Xbox Series X (buy now ) as well as the Xbox Series S the object-based surround sound format Dolby Atmos. With its help, vector-based data for moving objects can be integrated in order to generate better surround sound. Theoretically, an unlimited number of audio tracks are possible with Dolby Atmos. The format was initially used in cinemas, but now there are also corresponding home theater systems.

The two new Xbox consoles also support Dolby Vision. This is a technology for dynamic HDR (High Dynamic Range) in order to be able to display particularly high-contrast images. With the help of Dolby Vision, luminance levels of up to 10,000 cd / m² can be displayed. while the current maximum resolution is 7680 x 4320 pixels – this corresponds to an 8K resolution. In addition, up to 120 images per second are possible.

While support for Dolby Atmos will be available for the launch of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on November 10, 2020, support for Dolby Vision will only be activated at a later date. However, a specific date has not yet been set.
