Quarantine, social distancing, curfew – Germany is currently spending quite a bit of time in its own four walls. In order to at least provide some variety there, several publishers and stores are currently offering a selection of games for free. We summarized which are these in this article.
Even in the current situation, the Epic Games Store continues to stick to its strategy of weekly ridge games. Means: Every seven days, users can enjoy free content. Until March 26th Watch dogs and The Stanley Parable permanently add to your game library. Watch Dogs is an open world adventure with a hacker theme. As Aiden Pierce you make the rainy Chicago unsafe with your smartphone and experience the story of revenge around the tragic life of the protagonist. Even if the game got rather sobering ratings due to the graphics downgrade and the lack of PC porting, it is certainly worth a look for Open World fans. The Stanley Parable, on the other hand, is a paradoxical indie adventure that deals with decisions and consequences. The unique gaming experience offers a lot of humor, absurd moments and dark turns – depending on how you approach the title.
The new free games will follow on March 26 from 4 p.m .: The musical action adventure Figmentin which you explore a surreal hand-drawn world with protagonist Dusty, and Tormentor x Punisher – a brutal top-down twin-piece shooter with a pixel look.
Uplay has the picturesque until March 28th Child of Light for free. As Princess Aurora you roam the dream world Lemuria in search of the three sources of light that were stolen by the Dark Queen. The platforming convinces with the beautifully drawn levels, the use of some role-playing elements and the relaxing puzzle-like puzzles.
In addition, from March 26th to 29th, you can play the open-world tactical shooter Ghost Recon Breakpoint for free on PS4, Xbox One and PC. On the remote Aurora Archipelago somewhere in the South Pacific, as part of the Ghost Recon Special Forces, you can let off steam in an open game world full of vehicles and enemy factions. The sequel to Ghost Recon: Wildlands made the fans upset about the release last year. Above all, the barely thought-out loot system hit the players badly. According to Ubisoft, the new, large update 2.0 promises improvement: Among other things, the immersive mode "Ghost Experience" introduces a more authentic gaming experience – without any level for equipment or loot. If you are interested in the new mode, you can play the free weekend.
And there is another title from Ubisoft: The one that is also free in the Uplay Store Rabbids Coding explains the basics of programming to children in a playful way. The easy puzzling fun transports the gameplay of puzzle games like 7 trillion humans into the cuddly rabbids world.
You can continue on Steam until March 31 Half-life 1 and Half-Life 2 and the associated DLCs for free. The shooter classics around protagonist Gordon Freeman are still timeless in 2020 and offer the perfect opportunity to get in the mood for the VR prequel Half-Life: Alyx. Next to it are the episodic adventure The Council (until March 30th), the crazy goat shooter Goat of Duty (until March 31) and the party game Drawful 2 (until April 11) in the ranks of free games. They will stay in your library permanently.

GOG also has one "Stay home and play games" event started. There you can enjoy retro games and Free2Play titles. Among the 26 games you will find the dystopian point-and-click adventure Beneath a Steal Sky or Shadow Warrior Classic Complete, the first-person shooter with a Far East setting from 3D-Realms. These are available until March 30th.
In addition, you can always expect temporary special offers, such as the Spring Sale Goodies Collections. They contain free content for top titles such as A Plague Tale: Innocence, Darkest Dungeon, The Surge 2 or Vampyr – including wallpapers, digital art books or soundtrack packages.
PSN, Microsoft Store, Nintendo eShop and Co.
The free offer is rounded off by some high-quality demos: For example, you can use the JRPG on PC, PS4 and Switch Trials of Mana allude before it hits the stores on April 24th. On Steam, in the PSN or Microsoft Store you also have the opportunity to take a look at the New edition of Resident Evil 3 to throw. The playable teaser for the Final Fantasy VII remake has been around for a long time. Since March 20, however, players without a PS Plus subscription can now also access it.

Of course, the gaming world also shows solidarity in other places: In World of Warcraft you just get an additional XP boost. If you log in until April 20, you will receive the buff "Wind of Wisdom" and thus double experience points.
In the Google Play Store and the iOS App Store, you can currently get the fun traffic simulation Mini Metro for free. You can also use it to manage a network of subway stations and lines on your smartphone.
Twitch Prime users, and thus all Amazon Prime customers, can look forward to all kinds of smaller titles. This month you get Bomber Crew, Whispers of a Machine, Mugsters, Furi and Epistory-Typing Chronicles for free.
And of course there are also plenty of free games anyway, such as the recently launched "Warzone" Batle Royale mode by Call of Duty. As you can see, the selection of games is also quite large for the small budget – self-isolation should be a little easier for all gamers.
